Jennifer Walker, RN, MSN, is the Director of Distance Learning at Upstate Area Health Education Center (AHEC). She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Master’s Degree from Clemson University. In addition to her role as Director of Distance Learning, Jennifer is also the Lead Nurse Planner for the ANCC at Upstate AHEC. Jennifer has extensive experience in developing, teaching and marketing on-line courses. She worked at Greenville Technical College for six years where she developed and taught on-line courses for RNs and LPNs. Jennifer developed South Carolina’s first in state on-line RN and LPN Refresher Course, which is still in existence today and has successfully returned many nurses back into the workforce. Her refresher courses were also taught in Florida, Georgia, and at Old Dominion University.
Jennifer has grown South Carolina AHEC’s distance program called AHEC U to over 200 programs in just five years. She saw the vision of taking AHEC U from being bound by state borders to offering the programming nationwide. This vision is what motivated Jennifer to apply for ANCC credentialing for the programs. Jennifer spearheaded the ANCC credentialing application process and was successfully approved in 2017. Jennifer has also been instrumental in the development of the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) Upstate South Carolina Affiliate named the Upstate South Carolina Affiliate of the ANPD.
