To provide students in the Upstate of South Carolina with opportunities, experiences, and skills that will allow them to grow into successful Healthcare Professionals

Upstate AHEC’s Health Careers Academy (HCA) is a four year, interactive, academic-based program designed to encourage and prepare high school students to enter health careers.

SEP is an integrative summer internship program where students shadow, volunteer, and explore the healthcare environment.

The Undergraduate Leaders Program is an initiative that provides support and resources to Undergraduate students with an interest in pursuing a career in the healthcare field. Students in the program will have the opportunity to participate in webinars, courses, and activities that will support their transition to the next step in the pipeline.

The Bennie M. Pettit Scholarship Program was established in 2017 in recognition of the long years of service provided Mrs. Pettit as the Director of Continuing Professional Development – Live Programming at Upstate AHEC. The program was established to promote a broad range of professional health occupations by awarding scholarships for attendance at institutions of higher learning.

S.T.E.A.M: Careers in Health is a free, virtual career exploration experience for students and parents of students grades 9th and above. Practicing professionals will provide insight into health-related careers and their experiences in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM). Each session will spotlight educational paths, experiential opportunities, and resources to support student success. Learn more about the program here.
