INTERPROFESSIONAL SERVICE LEARNING PROJECT (ISLP)
South Carolina AHEC has partnered with the Medical University of South Carolina to provide health profession students with collaborative, community-based interprofessional learning experiences designed to increase student knowledge and skills in health promotion/disease prevention. This project, known as ISLP, was designed by MUSC faculty as part of the Creating Collaborative Care Initiative. The program is being implemented in collaboration with the MUSC Junior Doctors of Health Program. For more information about ISLP, please contact Nancie Stover-Nicholson or Tina Fulton.

SOUTH CAROLINA RURAL INTERDISCIPLINARY PROGRAM OF TRAINING (SCRIPT)
SCRIPT is a five-week summer practicum for health professions students that offers them the opportunity to gain clinical experience in a rural setting while learning the importance of interdisciplinary teamwork. SCRIPT includes one week of didactic sessions. The didactic sessions includes discussion groups, activities, and guest speakers and covers topics such as cultural competence, rural practice issues, and interdisciplinary team building. During the remaining four weeks of SCRIPT, students participate in rural clinical experiences, community-based health project implementation, and community fieldtrips.
Unfortunately, the South Carolina Area Health Education Consortium (AHEC) has found it necessary to place its SCRIPT program on hiatus for the 2011 fiscal year due to the South Carolina State Budget cut of the AHEC Health Professions Student Rural Infrastructure Development Funds. It is the hope of the SC AHEC that these funds will be restored by the state legislature so that SCRIPT may be held again in 2012.
