AHEC STAFF
CANDACE A. LUCIANO, JD, M.Ed., CENTER DIRECTOR Her earlier professional experiences include Director of Educational Services at Richland Memorial Hospital, Corporate Director for Human Resource Development in a multi-hospital system based in South Florida, an attorney in private practice, and various undergraduate and medical school teaching responsibilities. Candace has a Bachelor of Arts from Lander College, a Master of Education from the University of South Carolina and a Juris Doctor from the Massachusetts School of Law. LAURA SAMS, BHSR, OFFICE MANAGER lsams@upstateahec.org Laura received her Associates degree in Accounting from
Asheville-Buncombe Technical College.
She then attended the University of North Carolina in Asheville where she majored in Accounting and Business Administration. Laura earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services and Resources from Anderson University. She has over 20 years of experience in the accounting field.
BENNIE M. PETTIT, BS, MS, CONTINUING EDUCATION CONSULTANT
KARIN COLLOM, RN, MEd, EMT-P, DISASTER
PREPAREDNESS AND RESPONSE TRAINING COORDINATOR
She also possesses a Master of Arts and Education Degree, with an emphasis in Sports Medicine, from Furman University and is a licensed Paramedic. While most of these degrees were being secured and into the present, Karin has worked as a nurse in the Emergency Department of the Greenville Hospital System. She has been teaching classes for the Upstate EMS Council since 1986 and has been a valued continuing education instructor for Upstate AHEC for more than a decade.
CYNTHIA L. GILSTER, M.S., Ed., HEALTH PROFESSIONS STUDENT COORDINATOR
Upon returning to the States, she earned a teaching certificate and undergraduate degree from Eastern Michigan University in the field of Science and Math. Cynthia taught in private and public secondary schools for 18 years before returning to her original interest of health and medicine. In 1992 she received a Masters Degree in Education from Clemson University.
DIANNE M. JACOBS, MSN, RN,
SPECIAL NURSING PROJECTS COORDINATOR Her career in nursing has included a private counseling practice, community health education, and clinical nursing instruction. She acts as a Special Nursing Projects Coordinator.
SELENA HENDERSON, BA, MSM, GCDF CONTINUING
EDUCATION CONSULTANT
Selena received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Health and Exercise Science from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina and her Master’s of Science in Management from Southern Wesleyan University in Greenville, South Carolina. She is also certified as a Global Career Development Facilitator. As a CE Consultant for Upstate AHEC, Selena assesses the educational needs of healthcare professionals in the upstate; plans, implements and evaluates continuing education programs in Laurens, Greenwood, Edgefield, and Saluda counties; and acts as a local health professions education resource and consultant.
TINA FULTON,
BA PROGRAM ASSISTANT/MARKETING COORDINATOR
She provides program and administrative support to both the HPS and SDDP departments. She is also responsible for coordinating marketing/public relations projects for Upstate AHEC.
SUSAN P. KYZER, MSN, RN,
SPECIAL NURSING PROJECTS COORDINATOR
Susan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of South Carolina and her Masters of Science degree in Family Health Nursing from Clemson. Prior to her position of Special Nursing Projects Coordinator, she was a clinical pathway expert for the corporate headquarters of Shriners Hospitals. Her previous experience includes positions in Public Health, healthcare management, psychiatric nursing, labor and delivery, clinical instruction of students, staff nursing on various medical and surgical units and the founding of Lamaze, Inc. of Greenville.
TENISHA D. HUDSON, DATA
MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST
She received her Associates Degree in Public Service from Greenville Technical College in Human Services and is currently working on her Bachelors in Social Work at Limestone College. Tenisha enjoys volunteering in her community and has experience with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Hands on Greenville, and the Pan-American Games for the Blind.
NANCIE STOVER,
BA HEALTH PROFESSIONS STUDENT COORDINATOR
As HPS Coordinator, Nancie will act as a liaison between medical students and their clinical placements and preceptor assignments. She will serve Greenville, Spartanburg, Laurens, Greenwood, Saluda, Edgefield, McCormick and Abbeville Counties.
ANGIE ROSS, ADMINISTRATIVE
ASSISTANT
Angie is also currently pursuing her Associate's Degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant at Greenville Technical College. As Administrative Assistant, Angie will provide administrative support for Upstate AHEC services, including Continuing Education, Health Professions Students, and Health Careers programs.
Jennifer Turner,
BS CONTINUING EDUCATION CONSULTANT
She comes to Upstate AHEC with over 15 years in the healthcare field in the Upstate of South Carolina. Jennifer is working with healthcare professionals in Anderson, Abbeville, Oconee and McCormick to assess, plan and implement continuing education programs.

CAREERS PROGRAM COORDINATOR
LaToya received her Bachelors of Science degree from South Carolina State University. As the Health Careers Coordinator, LaToya will provide activities for middle and high school students that promote student awareness and understanding of various health career occupations. |
