A third campus – St. Francis Millennium – adjacent to the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU ICAR) located in Millennium, the region’s most rapidly growing economic epicenter, has been announced and is in planning stages. Additional to comprehensive care throughout cardiac, orthopedics, cancer, women’s services/obstetrics and rehabilitation, St. Francis finds focus throughout the continuum of care with priorities for prevention, intervention and education programs addressing the holistic needs of patients and family members. St. Francis Mission Services embraces the strengths of the St. Francis healing ministry through the Emmanuel Program (complementary healing therapies including massage and music), Spiritual Care, LifeWise (Senior Citizen programming) and the SMILES Mobile Dental Clinic (providing the underserved with dental screenings and preventive and restorative care). Through LifeWise (adults 50+) and the Parish Nursing program, St. Francis is continually bringing valuable resources outside the hospital walls to improve health for all.

Upstate & South Carolina AHEC Continuing Education Educator of the Year

Robbie Leonard, MS, PT was recently awarded the Upstate and South Carolina AHEC Continuing Education Educator of the Year award. Mrs. Leonard received her B.S. Degree in Microbiology from Clemson University and her M.S. Degree in Physical Therapy from Duke University. She has over 20 years of clinical & administrative experience in various physical rehabilitation, educational and administrative positions, including Shepherd Center, Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation and The Medical University of South Carolina. She opened her own business in March 2004, which includes patient care specializing in the areas of neuromuscular rehabilitation, geriatrics, seating and wheeled mobility, administrative consulting and teaching. Mrs. Leonard currently serves as adjunct faculty for the Physical Therapy Program at Western Carolina University and The Medical University of South Carolina.

Always confident before her audience, Leonard exhibits great enthusiasm for the topic and a passion for teaching others very complex clinical topics and skills. Participant feedback indicates that she artfully matches her teaching method and materials with her audience’s level of knowledge and interest. One participant commented, “Robbie provided me with a wealth of knowledge and resources — and in an interesting, at times, amusing way — excellent teacher.”

Hospice of the Upstate
Sadler Bereavement & Education

The Sadler Bereavement and Education Center is Hospice of the Upstate’s newest addition. It includes a 3,500 square foot high-tech Conference Center and other meeting spaces to allow community and professional education regarding end-of-life issues.

Some on-going education offerings for the community include morning and evening grief support groups for adults, weekly support groups for children, caregiver education, monthly Advance Directive workshops and the area host for Upstate S.C. Gerontological Society.

The conference center provides all the amenities for a large business event, seating a maximum of 250 without tables and 125 with tables, or can be partitioned for smaller meetings. Conference room leasing is available at full- and half- day rates.
