Purpose: Provide knowledge for healthcare managers and leaders to be able to communicate clearly and effectively.
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
-Describe components of successful face-to-face communication.
-Describe non-clinical applications for the SBAR (situation, background, assessment and recommendations) communication format.
-Discuss principles for effective written communication.
-Identify necessary elements for sharing important information such as organizational vision/goals and engaging employees in the process.
-Discuss effective strategies for having “crucial conversations” with colleagues and employees
-Demonstrate use of the STAR format for coaching employees.

All Healthcare Professionals
FEE
$60 for non members; No fee for AHEC members
CREDIT
0.4 CEUs, 4 clock hours for Non Social Work, Counselors and Therapists, Respiratory Therapists.
Upstate AHEC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Upon successful completion of this program, attendees will receive 4 contact hours.
This CE activity is approved for 4.8 contact hours for physical and occupational therapists.
