Purpose: To assist eligible nurses to prepare for the oncology nursing certification exam.
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the components and value of Oncology Nursing Certification.
- Identify the major aspects of the scientific basis for oncology nursing practice.
- Identify the AJCC TNM staging and how it applies to treatment decisions.
- Discuss specific cancers and appropriate treatment options.
- Recognize psychosocial dimensions of care impacting oncology patients.
- List the ten metabolic and structural oncologic emergencies and appropriate nursing interventions.
- Recognize the impact of treatment on patients and appropriate symptom management.
- Identify the process and phases used in clinical trials and research.
- Recognize the impact after treatment on oncology patients.
- Identify how to manage symptoms of end-of-life care.
- Utilize test taking strategies and studying resources.
TARGET AUDIENCE Licensed Nurses who meet the criteria established by the Oncology Certification Corporation ® (ONCC) and other nursing and allied health professionals with an interest in oncology.
FEE $50 for non members; No fee for AHEC members
CREDIT 1.325 CEUs, 13.25 clock hours
Upstate AHEC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Upon successful completion of this program, attendees will receive 13.25 contact hours.
