Purpose: To provide a review of the practice of surgical technology.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Review standards of care for pre-operative preparation.
  • Review standards of care for post-operative procedures.
  • Review the standards of care for intra-operative procedures.
  • Review protocol for equipment sterilization/maintenance
  • Review anatomy, physiology, microbiology and surgical pharmacology.
  • Examine study preparation tips using the NBSTSA Candidate Handbook (2nd Edition).
  • Practice test questions with review.

$ 75 for non-members; No Fee for AHEC members

Credit

Surgical Technologists: This continuing education activity is approved for 5.5 CE credits by the Association of Surgical Technologists, Inc., for continuing education for the Certified Surgical Technologist and Certified Surgical First Assistant. This recognition does not imply that AST approves or endorses any product or products that are included in presentations. 

Others: This program is approved for 0.55 CEUs (5.5 clock hours) by Upstate AHEC and meets the SC AHEC Best Practice Standards.
