An Intense 2-day Prep Course for the NCC Inpatient OB Certification Exam

April 9 and 10, 2012

8 AM – 4:30 PM (Check in at 7:45 AM)

The Community Room – The Cottages at Brushy Creek – Greer, SC

PURPOSE: To assist participants to prepare to take the NCC Inpatient OB Certification Examination or to refresh and update knowledge of Inpatient Obstetrics.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Registered Nurses who plan to take the NCC Inpatient OB Certification Examination.  This is also an excellent review of inpatient obstetrics for the novice, as well as seasoned obstetrics RN, looking for a comprehensive review of inpatient obstetrics.

Qualifications to take the NCC Inpatient OB Certification exam include:

  • Current US and/or Canadian RN licensure, and
  • 24 months of experience in Inpatient OB as an RN, comprising a minimum of 2000 practice hours, and
  • Employed in Inpatient OB sometime in the last 24 months

OBJECTIVES:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of physiologic, pathologic, and sociocultural factors maternal affecting the pregnant family, the fetus and newborn.
  • Identify physiologic principles, appropriate interpretation, and interventions underlying maternal / fetal assessment.
  • Identify physiologic factors affecting the laboring woman and fetus.
  • Identify obstetrical complications, appropriate assessment, interpretation, and interventions for the pregnant woman and fetus.
  • Identify physiologic, pathophysiologic, and adaptation factors of postpartum mother and newborn.
  • Apply current standards of practice, research findings, and ethical / legal principles in providing nursing care to the normal, high risk antepartal, intrapartal, and postpartal family.
  • Identify and explain effective strategies for preparing for multiple choice tests.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT:

Licensed Nurses: Upstate AHEC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by The South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Upon successful completion of this program, attendees will receive 14 contact hours.
