Purpose: Provide updated information to professionals who may have contact with victims of child sexual abuse to build skills and learn new techniques to support their clients.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Define child sexual abuse.
- Discuss characteristics of the sexual perpetrator.
- Identify physical and behavioral indicators of child sexual abuse.
- Describe types of treatment available.
- Discuss prevention of sexual abuse.
Target Audience
Licensed Nurses, Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, Social Workers, and Interested Others
Fee
$60 for non-members; No Fee for AHEC members
Credit
Licensed Nurses: Upstate AHEC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by The South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Upon successful completion of this program, attendees will receive 4 contact hours.
Counselors and Therapists: This program has been approved for 4 hours of continuing education by SC AHEC under its accreditation by the SC Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists and Psycho-Educational Specialists.
Social Workers: This program has been approved for 4 clock hours of social work continuing education by Upstate AHEC, as part of the SC AHEC system, under its accreditation by the SC Board of Social Work Examiners.
Others: This program is approved for 0.4 CEUs (4 clock hours) by Upstate AHEC and meets the SC AHEC Best Practice Standards.
