Purpose: This program is intended to provide an overview of critical care nursing practice.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Review the Basic Anatomy & Physiology of the following systems: Cardiac, Hematology, Pulmonary, Gastrointestinal, Neuro, Immune, Endocrine, Renal
- Analyze ABG’s, relating results to disorders as well as indications for mechanical ventilation/support
- Review Basic Arrhythmia, 12-Lead EKG, and Hemodynamic Monitoring.
- Define hemodynamic monitoring including arterial lines, pulmonary the determinants of cardiac output and the major assessment parameters.
- Discuss the nursing implications for selected cardiovascular medications.
- Differentiate among the types of shock.
- Review the indications for, and administration of blood products; and the symptoms associated with transfusion reactions
Target Audience
Licensed nurses new to critical care, novice nurses, new graduates or those wanting to update their skills.
Fee
$ 80 for non-members; No Fee for AHEC members
Credit
Licensed Nurses: Upstate AHEC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by The South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Upon successful completion of this program, attendees will receive 12 contact hours.
Others: This program is approved for 1.2 CEUs (12 clock hours) by Upstate AHEC and meets the SC AHEC Best Practice Standards.
